American Middle Eastern Network for Dialogue at Stanford (AMENDS)

AMENDSDeadline: October 12, 2011

AMENDS offers a unique opportunity to interact, collaborate, and form personal relationships with fellow youth leaders from across the Middle East, North Africa, and the United States, while exchanging ideas and implementing initiatives that work towards a better future.

AMENDS has three main components: mentorship, conference, and the AMENDS Talks. Selected delegates will be paired with their American/Middle Eastern counterpart based on a area of mutual interest and then given a mentor who is a leader or expert in their shared area of work. The delegates will work together and with their mentor prior to the conference to further develop initiatives that they are already working on, or create new ones. During the conference, delegates will continue to work on their initiatives while they interact directly with world leaders and other delegates, and participate in workshops and panel discussions. The conference will culminate in the AMENDS Talks, presentations from all of the delegates, either individually or with their partner, on their initiatives, ideas, and experiences. These presentations will be shared online for the world to see.

Eligibility:

Delegates will be selected based on the level of their dedication to promoting change in the MENA region and/or in U.S.-MENA relations. We will also heavily consider the past experiences and backgrounds of each delegate that will enable him/her to contribute a unique perspective to the conference, in order to ensure a rich, diverse group of delegates.

Participating in AMENDS is almost free of charge. Transportation and conference expenses will be heavily subsidized. Being selected as an AMENDS Delegate entails a commitment to continue giving back to your community, country, and world. Delegates are expected to remain in touch after the conference, be representatives of AMENDS, and continue helping others to affect positive change.
